Zoning Board of Appeals: 05.22.03

Present: Al Short, David Herlein, William Jaquays, Bob Roedema, Beth Kuntzleman
Absent: None

V03-03 Charles E. & Lynda A. Lang, 1535 S. Dearing Rd., Parma, MI 49269, for a variance to request a 7 _’ setback where the zoning ordinance requires a minimum 20’ setback. The purpose of the request is to build an addition to the home as they are expecting their 12th child. #000-12-03-176-004-00

Dave Herlein moved that the variance be granted with the rationale as noted. Second by Beth Kuntzleman. The rationale reads as follows:
1. The existing house is 10’ from the south lot line at the closest point.
2. The existing house does not set parallel with the property line to the south but is parallel to Dearing Rd.
3. The proposed addition to the house of 32’ on the east side of the house would place the closest point of the addition to 7’2” from the property line.
Unanimous approval of motion.

V03-04 Spring Arbor University, 106 E. Main St., Spring Arbor, MI 49283, for a variance to request an 80’ building where the zoning ordinance sets a maximum of 25-35’. The purpose of the request is to build a memorial clock tower.

Motion made by William Jaquays with second by Dave Herlein to grant the variance as requested. Unanimous approval of motion. Beth Kuntzleman excused herself from the vote as she is a member of the Spring Arbor University Board. #000-12-16-376-009-01

Respectfully submitted,
Wm. Jaquays, Secretary
