Spring
Arbor Township Board - March 6, 2008
At the special board meeting of the Spring Arbor Township
Board on Thursday, March 6, 2008, at 6:02 p.m., with the following
members present: Clerk Randi Holthouse, Treasurer Gloria Melchiori,
and Trustees Troy Ganton, Patricia Short and Brent Williams. Absent:
Supervisor Will DeGraaf and Trustee Marston Fortress. The meeting
was called to order by the Clerk.
Guests:
Ken Wyatt, Howard Noppe, Jan Noppe and Mel Rice.
The
purpose of the special board meeting was to interview candidates
for the position of Township Supervisor. The candidates interviewed
were Marston Fortress, Lewis Herr and Scott Rogers.
The
board members offered their comments and insights about the candidates
during general discussion.
Public
comment was opened at 7:48 p.m.
Mel
Rice – Mr. Rice spoke in favor of Mr. Fortress as the Supervisor
appointee, noting that it would be difficult for a Supervisor in
a township this large to handle the assessing as well.
Howard
Noppe – Mr. Noppe spoke in favor of Mr. Rogers as the Supervisor
appointee, noting that Mr. Rogers could certainly handle the position
and how capable he would be with a long-range planning process for
the Township.
Public
comment closed at 7:54 p.m.
Motion
was made by Williams and supported by Short to appoint Marston Fortress
as Township Supervisor; carried. Two nay votes were cast.
Adjournment. Motion was made by Ganton and
supported by Williams to adjourn at 7:57 p.m.
