Planning Commission August 7, 2007

The regular meeting of the Spring Arbor Township Planning Commission was called to order by Chair Fortress on Tuesday August 7, 2007 at 7:30 PM at the Township Hall.

Members Present : Fortress, Holton, Roth, Poole , Melville, Herlein.

Members Absent : Short, Jacobson, Williams.

On motion by Poole , with support from Roth, to approve the July minutes as read with the exception of elimination of the line “For this meeting no materials prepared from the Township office”. Motion carried.

Regarding the extension of Richard Street east to Dearing Road :

Whereas the traffic volume at the intersection of Dearing Road and M-60 continues to increase, as does the potential for accidents and

Whereas it is very difficult to safely enter M-60 from Henderson Road during certain hours of the day and

Whereas the planned traffic signal at the intersection of M-60 and Dearing Road has not materialized, and will not materialize in the foreseeable future, and

Whereas Spring Arbor Township (Planning Commission) required Arborwood Construction to dedicate a 66’ right of way for the said extension of Richard Street, which caused Arborwood to sacrifice one (1) saleable lot on Wakefield Court and

Whereas Daniel and Ruth Scott donated a portion of their land on Dearing Road (north of the trailer park) to facilitate said extension and

Whereas “sunset” provisions related to the dedicated and donated land are approaching and

Whereas the Township has the responsibility of promoting safety for all residents of Spring Arbor Township .

Now therefore, on motion made by Melville, and seconded by Holton, the Spring Arbor Township Planning Commission requests the Township Board to immediately initiate activity to provide for the engineering and construction of the said extension of Richard Street .

The vote on this motion was 6 Yeas, and 0 Nays. Motion passed.

Upon motion by Poole , supported by Roth, the meeting adjourned at 7:58 PM.
