Commission Minutes: 06.03.03
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Fortress. Those present
were: D. Evans, E. Poleski, A. Short, M. Fortress, C. Jacobson,
R. Holton, and K. Melville. Absent were: R. Roth and J. Williams.
Guests
were: Ruth Scott, Donna Meador, Dave Globig, Phil and Sherry
Shelts, Elry Weiman, Ruth B. Weiman, Ena Gallogly, Sharon Hastings,
Uretta Ward, Jim Chapel, Estelle Clary, John Clary, and Duane
Skene.
The
minutes of 5/6/03 were approved with the following change: On
the proposed change in ARTICLE V. Section 5.26 - OPEN
SPACE
PRESERVATION, the total vote should be 8-0 instead of 9-0,
as one member left before we reopened the meeting.
Mr. Duane Skene explained his request to change the zoning
of property description (parcel #000-12-16-301-008-00), from
RS-1
to RM-1.
Motion by Short, seconded by Holton to recommend approval -
motion passed 7-0.
Mrs.
Donna Meader explained her request to change the zoning of property
description, (parcel #165-12-16-352-008-00)
from

to RM-1. Motion by Short, seconded by Melville to recommend
approval -motion passed 7-0.
Mr.
Dave Globig of Spring Arbor University explained the purpose
of the rezoning requests. After
considerable discussion

Conditional Use Permit #C03-2-Spring Arbor University #000-12-16-301-012-00
Mr. Doug Jones, representing Spring Arbor University, explained
the additions to the field house for an auxiliary gymnasium
that would house basketball, volleyball, tennis etc. The
addition will be approximately 24,000 square feet. A motion
by Short,
seconded
by Evans to recommend a conditional use permit. Motion
passed 7-0.
Conditional Use Permit #c03-3-Spring Arbor University 000-12-16-376-009-01
Mr.
Doug
Jones, representing Spring Arbor University, explained the future
construction of the bell tower east of the Library
Building. The tower will be approximately 80' tall, with
a 20' X 20' base.
Motion by Short, seconded by Jacobson to recommend a
conditional use permit. Motion passed 7-0.
ZBA Minutes of May 22, 2003 were received.
As
