What do I have to do in order to build, remodel, or add a new structure to my property?

1. What type of improvements require permits?
Additions to a home or a garage, central air/furnace, replacement of roof trusses or plywood, enlargement of windows or doors, swimming pools, a new garage, shed, deck or other accessory structure.

2. What type of improvements do not require permits?
Painting, re-roof, siding, replacement windows, fences.

3. How do I obtain a building permit?
Building permits are processed through the Spring Arbor Township office. Staff can assist an owner in determining the types of permits needed, information required and ensure that the building project is in compliance with the Township ordinances and state and federal codes.

4. How long does it take to process a building permit?
It will take up to 3 working days to have your building permit processed.
