Training
Spring Arbor Township, for years and years, has boasted one of
the most active, well-trained crew of volunteer firefighters in
the State of Michigan. The 2003 firefighters are no exception.
In order to be trained and be certified proficient to protect Spring
Arbor citizens from fires, disasters, chemical hazards, and to
offer emergency medical care, these volunteers give of their free
time to be expert life-savers.
The fall and winter training schedule of Spring Arbor's fire force
is as follows:
• Terrorism and Disaster Training - 12 hours;
• Vehicle Extrication in JAWS and Airbags Training - 16 hours;
• HAZ-MAT and Tanker Fire Training - 22 hours;
• Medical Updating, C.P.R., Defibrillator Training - 15 hours;
• Apparatus Pumping and Testing - 16 hours;
•
Search & Rescue and Thermal Imaging Training - 5 hours;
• Foam Extinguishing Agents for Fire Fighting Training - 4 hours.
