Homeowner
Rehabilitation Assistance
- Provides
home repair funds for very low to moderate-income individuals
that own and live in their own home.
- Home
must be located outside of Jackson City limits, but within Jackson
County.
- Low
(1-3%) or NO INTEREST loans are available. The type of loan you
may be eligible for is based
upon your household income.
- Emergency
repair grants up to $2,500.00 are also available for items that
are an immediate threat to the health and safety of the occupants.
- Eligible
repair items include: defective plumbing, heating, electrical
and mechanical systems; roofing, windows, and doors; siding, porches,
steps, foundations, and handicapped ramps.
- A
licensed contractor must be used for all repairs.

You
may or may not know that Community Action Agency administers a Community
Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) for the residents of Jackson
County. This program can assist eligible families with home rehabilitation.
There
are two levels of rehab assistance provided:
1)
A Standard Rehabilitation Loan
2)
An Emergency Repair Grant
Depending
on the income level of the household, there are two types of loans
available:
1)
0% deferred payment loan
2)
1-3% rate monthly payback loan
Also,
Community Action Agency offers a Weatherization Program for income
eligible residents. The eligibility for this program is based on
150% of the poverty
level. Residents who qualify for this program may have their homes
insulated, receive health and safety measures, cold air infiltration
measures and minor repairs. This service is absolutely free to eligible
participants. Weatherization is funded by the Department of Energy
(DOE) and the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
